My Snuggly Pup
I know that I have said this before but I just love her so. Sofie is the best dog that we could have ever brought into our home after the loss of Peanut and I'm so glad that I went with my gut and waited until we find just the perfect girl. It was a long 3 years but so worth every second. I really do think that Peanut sent her our way because she acts a LOT like her and fits in perfectly with us. She loves to run around with the kids but at the end of it, she LOVES to snuggle up with me. Every night she either sleeps right next to me under the covers or she will lay her head on my pillow and sleep there just like an adult. Last night was so funny because I fell asleep and then woke up because I felt this heavy weight on my face and shoulder and could hear heavy breathing. My initial thought was, "What the hell is David doing?" Imagine my surprise when I lifted my hand to see what was going on and felt a bunch of furry softness! I slowly turned on the lamp and grabbed my cell phone to take a pic of this precious moment. Sofie was sound asleep and had her paw resting over my shoulder and then her head snuggled right in. Aww, such pure and innocent love.

Straight A's
I am SO proud of Brent and Ryleigh and I am going to brag! Their report cards came home and they are both doing amazing! In 1st grade you don't get grades on your card just yet but it is based on a number scale from 1 - 4 to show you your child's improvement. Ryleigh each 6 weeks has moved up on the number scale and has even received 4's on some things (which means you have mastered it). I am so happy for her because Brent has always done well in school but I never want her to feel like she has to be the same. Luckily, thus far, it is not an issue. She is definitely holding her own and doing just as well as he ever has. In fact, I came home tonight to find her at her easel and this madness written all over it. It took me a second to realize what it was because she said to me, "We are learning alligators!" I then was able to see that she was working on greater than, less than and equal to problems. The great thing was that she did this all on her own. Not because it was homework or someone told her to, simply because she enjoys it and decided to do it. She knows how to make me happy!
(On a side note, I am pretty certain that we were NOT learning this type of math in 1st grade. If I remember correctly, we were just starting to do addition and subtraction!!)
Now, on to Brent. School has always been pretty easy for him and this year is going great. He got straight A's for the 3rd six weeks in a row and the better part is that they are all high A's. I just can't wait to see what he is going to grow up to be. Each year the one thing his teacher's always rave about is his writing and how they and the class always love Brent's stories. He is very elaborate and great at telling details (anyone that has had a conversation with him knows this for sure...he goes on and on and on..) and they also say that he has such a funny writing voice. Maybe he'll grow up to be a famous author?!?! He also truly enjoys science though and says that he wants to be a scientist and invent something. No matter what he does, I just hope that he and Rye follow their hearts and truly find something that makes them happy and know that me and Daddy support and love them, always.

Cousins are the best
The Mays boys came and joined us for a sleepover last night! The kids were so excited because they've never spent the night before and they all had a blast! Even though Brent is 4 1/2 yrs. older than Nolan, he definitely had fun sharing his video games. Ryleigh and Hudson of course spent time going back and forth between both rooms and doing what they wanted. I love the relationship we have with these little guys and look forward to many more exciting memories!
